53 Yards Later....

The pour went perfect again. The hybrid ICF and conventional form work foundation worked great. The students participated with the pour and everyone came out of the project with a better understanding of concrete and insulated concrete forms as a building alternative. These students we hope will bring this knowledge into their building careers as we become more aware of the importance of energy efficiency in our buildings. We look forward to our next project with CTE or the many other technical building trade school in Vermont. Thank you to the students and staff and we wish you success with the rest of your project.

Walls and Staging Up

We have stagged half of the house and are ready to stack the last remaining courses and prepare for the pour early next week. The bucks for the walk out section of the foundation were built by the students at CTE and are ready to be placed. A couple of Naylor and Breens staff worked with us as they prepare for their first ICF project. The boys from Rugg Concrete are also ready to pour the uninsulated garage walls and we will pour both sections of the foundation walls together. We will have to push tomorrow and Tuesday to make sure that Wednesday we are ready, this depends on the weather and our willingness to get wet.

Up, Up and Away

The footings were cleared and by 10 am we really were able to start moving forward on the project. The students lead by Jim were a great asset and we hope to really get them involved tomorrow. The weather was amazing making for a great day of get back to crawling around in the hole. Looking forward to setting staging and preparing the walls for a pour early next week.

Footings are set and poured

Roger and crew, Nate, Jamie and Joe set and poured the 200 + linear foot footing yesterday with no issues. Harrison Concrete brought in their big pump truck to make the reach 100+ feet. We plan on laying out and starting to set ICFs once the footing is stripped. The weather should work out for us over the next few days and if everything works out and the students are ready to push we should be setting staging early tommorrow and pouring early next week.
